If you're interested in a good solid top case that's also inexpensive, you might want to check out this seller on Ebay.

http://shop.ebay.com/cruiserbackrest/m.html?_nkw=top+box&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3911.m270.l1313&_odkw=&_osacat=0

They have a line of cases that are basically Givi clones, at much lower prices. I've bought from them twice and have been very happy with the deals so far, and the quality is quite good as well.

Hi SincityR65,

I started with a Givi E46 top-case and then went with the E52.  I attached it with a Givi universal plate to the Krauser Luggage rack on my R65.

With these top-cases on you will need to re-inforce the rack assembly.  I welded two bars from the back of Krauser rack to the back end of the short luggage rack.  This creates a rigid triangle.  Also I had some of the welds brazed when they cracked.  Since this has been done I have had no problems.

If you get the Givi - or any top-case - DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO ADD ANOTHER BRAKE LIGHT.  The Givi top cases have this option.  You cannot put a price on this extremely important safety item.  Get the built in brake light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'll post picks of my modified rack when I get home Sunday.

Sincerely,

For my GIVI I made a simple carrier from flat strip .... it allows the panier frames to be used as well but I removed the tail piece from the seat as I didn't want the box too far back.

I forgot I was supposed to post these pictures.  For the record I have the one piece Krauser Rack Assembly.  It has be reinforced at most of the joints with brazing and extra bars have been added to support the top case.

I used the Givi Universal plates to attach the E52 topcase and the panniers.

Russel Daylong.  Protects my boney (ahem) butt.

(expensive - worth every penny - except for the backrest which I don't use)
