Motobins Parts Supplier

I have just finished going through the entire Motobins online catalog this morning .

Even with shipping costs factored in, their prices are noticeably lower than the US parts outlets .

They have parts there, that are unavailable in the US .

If you have a large list of items for your bike, check them out first .

I placed an order in August 2009, and from the time I placed the order, until it showed up in Phoenix, it was 6 days, that's about 5300 miles (8500 km) for shipping .

Motobins has added a helpful currency converter at the bottom of most every page in their new web catalog. 'Bins states that they ship over 98% of their orders complete without backorders.

Bought a carb rebuild kit from them for the R65 and was satisfied.  Bought another carb rebuild kit from Chicago BMW for the R90.  Prices were close but Chicago beat the delivery time by a week.  Still, I'd buy again from Moto Bins.

I thought everything they sold was first shipped to China, where it was then put on the slow boat back.

Seriously though, I don't think I've ever gotten an order from them in less than 3 weeks, usually longer, and that's only after I called and woke them up to inquire where my parts were.

That's why I always telephone ChiBMW to place my orders. I ask them to confirm the items are in stock before formally placing the order. Sometimes, they have all I need. Other times, they have to order the bits from das fatherland but do not contact you with that little detail. Be advised, your credit card is charged when you order, not when parts are shipped.

These days, BMW dealers are less inclined to maintain airhead stocks nor do they wish to accept service work on any BMW older than ten years. Not sure if that's corporate talking...  I do try to support indy BMW parts vendors whenever possible and/or practical.

It's up to the individual dealer.  Capitol BMW in Raleigh tries very hard NOT to work on airheads - they send those customers over to Carolina Euro in Greensboro, another authorized BMW dealer.  They have the mechanics that know and love the airheads and that makes a BIG difference!

While I don't know much about nuthin', I do know that Chicago shipped quickly, but it was from a phone order.  Even a blind hog finds an acorn now and again....

About all I use the local "authorized" BMW dealer for is bike inspections, free coffee and bench racing on Saturdays, and the occasional off the shelf spare part.  They won't work on anything older than 10 years old, which is about 50% of the beemers on the road today, and 75% of my BMW collection.  I like the smaller guys that have the expertise and give the time and care on the bikes.

Yes they are an authorized new BMW bike dealer .

I remember seeing on the Chicago BMW website, that if BMW made it, they would perform service on it .

Can't find that anywhere on their site now .
