Cool.  Sort of like the modern Gators and stuff, though they seem more like toys to me.  I like it's PTO options....  I have a PTO that I'm putting on my old Chevy truck to run a winch.  It's funny when you read the old ads; it's like they're almost trying to compete with tractors.

If you're an aviation aficionado, there was a BMW boxer engine used as the 'starter motor' for the Messerschmitt Me-262 the first jet fighter used by Germany in WWII .

If you watch the 'Military Channel' you may see this, there was a 'D' ring, on the 'bullet' on the front of the jet engine, you pulled this 'D ' ring, and it was a rope type pull starter for the boxer starter engine .

The ignition for the starter engine, was controlled by a switch in the cockpit .

Don't know what kind of clutch was used to engage the starter to the engine gearbox .

Wow! I recall seeing one or two of those things when I was in Germany in the 70s. Didn't know what they were.

Consider the first sketch in the attachment. It seems s-o-o-o appropriate to anyone who lived in rural Germany at that time that the first application that would come to mind is to put a tank on it and use it for a "honey wagon."

Dating from 1958 to 1976 and built by Steyr Daimler Puch, the Haflinger is a pocket - size 4WD that four strong men can lift. Mechanical muscle usually means increased weight which can leave wheels churning impotently in mud or sand. The Haflinger took the other tack - adding lightness means the vehicle often walks through trouble and, if not, it is at least easy to extract on those "bad 4WD days
