Labor Day Holiday Weekend
« on: September 04, 2009, 11:17:23 AM »
What do the US members have planned for this three day holiday weekend ?

I've got Monday off, and depending on what the weather does, (forecast is for a significant chance of rain from Friday-Tuesday), is to take the R65 out for an early morning run up into the higher elevations north east of the Phoenix area .

If it's cancelled due to rain, the refurbishment of the '84 LS will commence, finally, with temperatures below 100 F. in the garage this coming week .

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

I'll be nonchalantly driving by your shop to see if I can catch a glimpse of the  LS  ;D

Well, the trash business does not stop for holidays so I'll be driving my International "packer" Saturday and Monday >:(. Sunday I'll most likely go for a ride around the island.

Around here, the motorcycles dealerships are opening on the former traditional MC Monday closures. Big Hardley-Ableson dealer, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki dealerships...  New bike sales business has been impacted by the economic downturn. I rode my R65 to the American Eagle HD mega store on the south side of our village and I was the only bike in the lot! I even parked the BMW in the "HD Only" corral. Nobody said a word to me. I was also the only customer -was looking for a map- in the store.

Lot of used motorcycles showing up at work but most are purchased off the DFW CraigsList or from individuals.

Our sales have really picked up.  We have a new owner who is shopping the used bike market and we are selling those faster than the new ones!

Labor Day Weekend Saturday has been, well, laborious.

Up early while it's still cool-ish to replace a 4x fence post my back yard neighbor's daughter backed into with her SUV. Broke it clean off. Sweaty. She didn't even say excuse me, I'm sorry. Too busy on the cell phone. >:(

Cleaned up from that dirty work and went to the shop to straighten out a running issue on the '81 R65. Got that done surprisingly easily.

Spent some additional bench time reassembling a spare Bean Can to carry as a road trip spare.

Second cleanup and now it's channel surfing between AMA road racing, NASCAR and Oklahoma University football. Texas is not on TV due to their lame opponent, LSU-Monroe. Paying the cajuns 800K to come play ball in Austin. Rose Bowl bound Texas, OU or Florida? You pick the number one team this year.

Will see what Sunday and Monday hold after a nice morning on the BMWs. I need to rent some sheep or goats just to eat the back yard low enough to get the mower through.

Plenty of adult malt beverages on hand. [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Happy and safe Labor Day to all.     Monte

I'll be working all weekend. Saving people from their stupidity.  hahaha

So far today, a lost group of folks up in the mountains (well, they're not really lost, WE know where they are.......), numerous arrests for various things, I lost another one today too.  38 year old guy, tried to do CPR over the phone, he didn't make it.  :-(    Swear I am going to get a T-shirt with the guy in the hooded robe and scythe that says "Angel of Death" and hash marks for every time I do telephonic CPR and they don't make it.  Domestics, fights, drunken fools being stupid in public.

I LOVE my job!

The neighbors had fireworks going off last night.  I never thought of Labor day as a fireworks sort of holiday.  But then my neighbors don't need much of an excuse to pull out the exposives.

Watching racing all afternoon today.   Go Rossi!  Boo on Alex, bummer.
