rubber/threaded battery bracket mount thingies
« on: July 31, 2009, 09:21:37 PM »
Any solutions to replacing these battery mounts? I took a piece of rubber heater hose and cut it to length 3" aprox. drilled two clearance holes and mounted it under the battery bracket and took the two mounts originally there which were still intact  and used them to replace the two  mounts up top used horizontally. I'm not sure i like the way it works but it should dampen vibration to my  new battery from Staub. But any suggestions other than buying direct replacements from BMW would be welcomed. Maybe there is something similar out there? :-/

These might be found at a well stocked hardware store or somewhere like Grainger or McMaster-Carr...  They are not a BMW specific item...

As i recall these are a standard 6mm antivibration mount they are availible from motorworks, motobins ect i replaced them on mine and fitted a rubber sheet under the battery they are also availiable from most engineering suppliers ....RS components ect.

Thanks Lou. I know I will find them. The way I have it fixed today is fine for now. I also fitter a piece of rubber beneath the battery. Although I don't know why as its a sealed battery.
