This is what I have so far.. a 1959 R50/2 frame and swingarm ..

I am sure that frame and swing arm might be worth something in the classic fraternity.  Especially to someone with the rest of the bike.

You might find that if you flog it, you can pick up much more R65 related gear and the you can make an R65 based special.

Just a thought?

Yep, stick an R75 or R90 engine and drivetrain into it, add the R65 complete front end and snowflake wheels, and call it a semi-conversion BMW.

You have a LONG way to go - lots of luck! Many conversiions have been done with the larger airhead engines - some have used the later swing arms in order to use a newer final drive and drive shaft. I'm not sure the R65 tranny will mate to an older drive shaft.
Do you plan on using an Earls front fork? The lack of front end dive when stopping is great - of course then you would need to modify it to take a disk brake. Drums are OK only if well maintained and properly adjusted.
Lots of information on conversions is available - I think Yahoo Groups has a group just for conversions.
keep us updated as to progress.

Yes, Yahoo does have a very active discussion group of /2 conversion fanatics. Here's a link.

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/slash2conversions/

I'd love to do a build on something like this, just don't think I have the patience, or the skill, certainly not the $$$$$..... ;)
