The Tail of the Dragon
« on: June 17, 2009, 10:17:59 AM »
Ive been thinking about an intresting route for the more desirning riders in briton i think ill call it Pussy,s Pause
Start at Bettys tea rooms in Harrogate west on the A59 passed Menwith hill (for our American freinds) over Beamsley Beacon (another hill with a fire on top) hang a right at the bottom of the hill past Bolton Abbey on to Pateley Bridge (Down Greenhow hill) and on to Fountains Abbey back to Bettys for afternoon tea all very civilized with some stunning scenery and testing roads definitely not for pussies about thirty miles with tea breaks.
If i do it ill post some piccys
Lou
ps bear in mind the A59 is regarded as the most dangerous A route in Briton due to the annual deathtoll so ride carefully all the gear all the time.!!!!!!
If anyone can recommend another nice ride with tea breaks please do

Hi Lou

Sounds a dream plan for a hot summers day!

I guess you've probably been already but a Sunday ride to Devil's Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale (your side of the hill from us Lancastrians) is always an interesting meet with several hundred like minded bikers.

Ahh bacon butties at Devils bridge cannot beat it
Also the veiw from the back of the church (simons seat?) as captured by Constable is stunning....we should be working for the tourist board.
