Royal Enfield Bullet
« on: June 04, 2009, 03:01:25 PM »
If you've been to Perry's MCs and Sidecars in Fort Worth, Texas in the last few months... stop by again. The Enfield Bullet is gone. Now lives in Denton, Texas.

One of my younger co-workers with the Denton ISD bought the bike and rode it to work yesterday. I looked it over pretty closely and enjoyed the classic vibe of the bike.

Of course, there were a few things that I'd jump on right away: An overly long wiring harness hanging down below the fuel tank was bundled up with a rubber band; plus the unnecessary muffler heat shield. Our gubmint protecting us from ourselves. Maybe change to a Dunstall-style... The speedo is a classic design but the secondary gauge with the gas pump icon -lights up when you're low- would get trashed.

Nice scooter made in India. Will be interested to see how it wears with a 20-something college student owner.

My pals got one the 500cc?? i think it looks and rides and sounds like origonal but there are already signs of trouble ahead with build quality and inferior materials.

Reports I've heard say you need to change oil about every 1000 miles plus adjust the valves about every 500 miles.  If your coworker gets 10k before throwing up his hands in disgust he'll be lucky.  Of course it does look really cool and retro but I suspect we have the classic case of emotions making the decision over experience.  And no doubt we've all done that before.

Monte, you could invite him down to TMS next weekend and we can all take a turn giving him opinions and help.  Maybe he'll even buy your fried chicken for you?

I went and looked at an '07 Royal Enfield about 3 months ago, and while it was a very classic looking and sounding bike, the owner admitted the reason it only had 1500 miles, was that it seems the bike needs a 'tinkerer' as an owner .

I passed on the bike .

I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Bengt, pay attention to your new bride and step away from the mouse. Play nice... I'll have cool, adult beverages in my bags.

I'll be at TMS this Saturday for Tech Daze. If you can get a kitchen pass, hope to see you and any other DFW metro airheads in the NASCAR garage area.

I'm thinking I'll keep a weather eye on the kid's Bullet. When he starts asking "WTF" questions, perhaps he might want to get shed of it... not to me!

Oh man, you're just like a big brother.  FWIW, you missed an outrageously fun party, but I am definitely glad that is over.  Both of us are in fact.  And, I still have about a gallon of Shiner Bock left in the keg and I'm going to avail myself of that right now.

Hope to see you this weekend and I'll definitely sample one of your brews.  It isn't training beer like Pearl or Old Milwaukee is it?

Maybe you can get your co-worker to come along and pick up some tips from the geezers.  I need to change throttle cables on my R100GS.
