I enjoyed watching the TT history item at the weekend, a couple of airheads doing well there, back in the 50s, I think.
The superbike practice laps, I saw were, fantastically spectacular. Every year I think, 'OMG' I've never seen anything like this.
Sure, TT remains controversial Personally, I feel the TT course was best suited to those vintage machines, for which, 100mph was an impressive top speed. Crashes tended to be less serious.
At the speeds attained by modern machines the circuit seems terrifying to me. While I don't support TT racing (never been to Isle of Man, because I don't want to be a part such a dangerous event), I do support the right of riders to participate if they choose. TT racers see tarmac, turns and straights. I see kerb edges, trees, road debris, lamp posts, bolting horses, etc, etc.
