got new riding boots

This is an ongoing saga.  Since I had my foot surgery last year (yeah!  it's been 1 year this month) my foot has been too swollen to wear certain kinds of shoes/boots.  

I had been looking for a good riding boot that I can wear and have had a hard time finding something.  The other part of this is the great gift certificate I got to the local BMW dealer.  I still had a bit over $200 to play with, and that's just about what a pair of boots costs.  Last fall I tried on a pair of boots at the BMW dealer and it fit..............the left foot.  The right foot was still too swollen.  Well, I went in yesterday and tried the boots on again.  Yippee!  I could get it on!  Not only that, but there was a 20% off sale.  Hee hee.  So, now I have $3.37 left in my gift certificate.   8-)  This is too cool!  I got some great boots that I may not have bought otherwise.  

They are the BMW brand, all weather, leather and cordura and a goretex liner.   And they look great!  I'm stoked!

And I just remembered what they are called - they are Allround Boots.  At least that's what the tag says.

I am finally having to replace my BMW boots, as the stitching is falling apart.  

But they are STILL waterproof!

I use them if I have to go out in deep snow!  And they came through my terrible crash with hardly a scratch.  
I bought them in 2000.

Rob, if you still like them you could run them by a cobbler and they might be able to fix them for much less than a new pair.  I have a pair of Johnston Murphy shoes that, although I don't wear them much anymore, have been re-soled and re-heeled many times in the 25 years I've had them.

Thanks Rob.   Looks like my new boots will last awhile then.  But I'm sorry about yours.  Justin's idea is a good one.  It's definitely worth taking them to someone to see what they can do.

Oh, alright John!    The next time my camera and my boots are in the same place I'll make sure to model them.  Hmmm.  Guess I'd better have my jeans tucked inside so you can see them.

If I had good boots around that were made locally I'd get them, at least if they fit.  I have a hard time finding boots that fit right.  That's why I was so happy that these boots fit so well.  The Justin Ropers sound like they'd be great motorcycle boots.

But flip flops?  And he's got scars to proove it?    Certifiable for sure!   [smiley=mad.gif]

I'm stuck with my Herman Munster boots...Tech 4 Alpinestarts that have such a lot of room inside that heel lifts are made up of: piece of memory foam, old foot support/orthotic, and the old rubber covers off my '87 Honda Civic Wagon's brake and clutch pedals! You'd be surprised how well they fit the heel of my boot!  I grow up about 3 inches. Makes all the difference plus 3/4 inch extra sole.

Congrats Melena!  I got my BMW boots back in 1996 (or sometime close to that) and I'm now thinking it's about time to replace them.  I got them too close to the fire at Willville and I'm losing the soles...so they're not waterproof anymore.  I keep using shoe goo to stick them back on, but I think 12/13 years is long enough.  So I can vouch for the quality of the BMW boots - at least from back then.    I love those boots and just hope I can find something just as comfortable and weatherproof!

I know what you mean about being hard to fit.  I wear a size 5 and most boots start at size 6.  BMW had them, though.  8-)

Kinda like Monte, I'd almost be lost if it wasn't for my Justin boots.  I really like the Justin Roper steel toed work boots for riding.  They're waterproof but breathable, and have a good non-slip sole.  Plus the leather is as tough as a cowboy's hide.  Nothin' like a good pair of boots!

I just checked the price on the BMW 'Sneaker' type boots I got about 4 years ago.

Yeow!  That is inflation!  Glad I was able to get mine off that gift certificate I  had.  I think my Allround Boots were around $200 after the 20% off sale.  I'm sure you can do better than that somewhere.
