 ;D  Thanks Aïda!  I just liked seeing his eyes go around in circles when I thwapped him "upside his pointy head".  But those other 2 work also.  Hee hee!    Oh, my!  I do think winter is getting to me.  It's time to be getting outside more.

Dirk,  I sure hope I never find a valve like that in my bike.  Yikes!   :o  Those pictures are great.  I know we will all love seeing the magic you work on this bike.  Thank goodness you have a good place to work on it.

Holy Moly!  That valve looks like Civil War era.  I bet the valve seat is also "toast".  But no valve "recession".  I guess R100 valves are made of sterner stuff than the R65 valves.  So what brought this on?  Too lean?   :P

On the subject of pinstriping:

I have had all the parts of my wh8la2 painted black with a white pinstripe. The pinstripe was done by painting the background white, then a tape pin stripe was applied and the whole was painted black. When the paint had dried the tape was removed and a clear coat applied. The result is a slightly recessed pinstripe which is quite satisfactory as you can see.

Thank you - it is nice when people appreciate one's work. My best friend, and we've been best friends for 45 years, do not believe in my ability to put the bike together again, but then he is a boat builder and looks upon me as a hopeless theorist.

Recently I suggested that we restore a '69 Citroén DS 23 injection when we are pensioned off - that would be the ultimate test.

Now that I would like to see - I do love the lights and the hydraulics. There's a real estate salesman up around here that has one - it looks like a sweet ride. Would you get the hardtop or convertable?

Having said that there is 2CV that a lady drives around here as well - black and yellow (ummmm  ::)). The colour I'd give a miss, but it's a very cool car.

@trolle: Very nice bike! You are a lucky guy because you have a warm and clean workshop!
I envy about you.

@Steve Hawkins: I don´t know what milage is on the R100. But what I know is that nobody loved the  bike before.

There was no clearance between the exhaust valve and the rocker of the of the right cylinder. So the ventile never closed correctly. The second point is the condition of the carbs. I don´t believe that they worked as they should.










I replaced everything inside the carbs.






I found the  A.T.E . brakes in this condition:












Those are the same calipers. I only cleaned them



The wheel bearings looked like that.




I´m sure the R100 has never had any services or maintenance. This is the old air filter.




I hope I will get her back on the road again.

She will always be the wh8la2, she just got her a nice new dress ;) :-)

Dirk, that is one neglected bike you have got there. What do you use to clean the aluminimum?
