My Oilhead got hit.....again !!
« on: February 26, 2009, 06:26:56 PM »
My oilhead got hit at a gas station a few blocks from the house last Thursday.

I was inside getting a couple lottery tickets, when a woman came in and said that somebody just knocked your motorcycle over and pushed it.

The offending driver backed up 50 feet (15m), knocked the bike off of the sidestand, and pushed the bike on the pavement about 6 feet (2 m).

Just got back from picking it up from the local BMW dealer.

$2100US worth of damages.

The other driver had State Farm Insurance, the same company that the driver of the first incident that I had with this bike a little over 6 years ago.

With both damage claims combined, this insurance company has paid $3000 more in claims, than I originally paid for the bike !!!

Geeze, at least they fixed it.  Me thinks the bike is jynxed and you need to buy a new RT, or something!   [smiley=beatnik.gif]

Was it at night or some reason that they couldn't see it?

Sorry for your loss, hope it was repaired to your satisfaction.

It was 14:50 , and as usual a clear and sunny day.

The dealer did a great job, as usual.

They did the repairs the last time it was 'whacked'.

Everything from the steering head forward was replaced, 30,000 miles later, no problems with the bike.

That hasn't happened to me since my first bike, way back in '76 (anybody here remember MinuteMan Hamburgers stands?).

Mine happened in front of a do-nut shop next to where I worked.  But she only tapped it, and it only cost her a few things like a speedometer, and such.

Those were my days in Little Rock, Arkansas.

And another good thing!  I just got my bill for this year's insurance.
Even after my wreck (they had to pay for the guy's bike I hit), my insurance has not really increased.  Maybe $10 over last year!

Man, that hurts. A friend of mine was having his DL renewed at the DMV when a nice old lady ran his Bonnie over in the parking lot. Twice.

At least with this claim, the whole process has gone alot smoother than the last.

The last 'incident' I had State Farm Insurance, and so did the other driver.

The bike sat at the dealer for 87 days before I got it back.

14 months to totally settle the claim.

This time I have Progressive Insurance, and they have been outstanding during the claims process !!!

Glad everything worked out Bob as best it can. What an odd incident..I am surprised they didn't see it but also that it was dragged 6 feet too.

Rob V. My insurance has gone up 53 percent because of the accident. It stays up there for 6 years!!! >:(

Hmm - proabbly just to make sure it was dead.....

IMHO (and experience - having been through more rear enders - from other people I hasten to add - than I care to remember), unfortunatley it doesn't matter how good the repairer is, there are always a few little things that are never quite the same.

My heartfelt condolences Bob

That's probably what made the process take so long!  They didn't have anyone else to go after and wanted to hold on to their $ as long as they could.  Sorry to hear it's happened to you twice!

BTW, Welcome back, Bob!  We've missed you here on the forum!!

Bob?  Uh, long time no read!  Welcome back.  Oh yeah, sorry about the wreck, glad it's fixed up and you weren't hurt.  That's the best way to wreck a bike I guess, if you're not on it at the time.
