Good air filters..fuel filters

I need a new air filter.......anyone know of a good quality air filter that doesn’t cost $75.00?
Also need a new fuel filter....not that crummy little cork thing BMW sells but one which will actually filter stuff. I have a Mahle KL13 on there now.....but the parts place where I bought them went down the drain due to hard times. So now I need a new source..........or new line of filters. Any ideas floating around out there.

I just bought a new air filter a few months ago and I think it was under 30 dollars.  I still think that's a lot but I bought it, from my local BMW dealer.  Where are you seeing them for $75?  

Snowbum lists some fuel filters that you can get from Napa.

Lemme put on my Nomex drawers...  I have K&N air filters in all of my bikes and cages...

I don't recall what year your bike is but pulling a random filter part # off RealOem 13721337080 shows that it's 'bout $30 from Chicago BMW http://www.chicagobmwmotorcycle.com/store/
If you order it now you may have it by June! As for fuel filters, I got one of those paper element universal types from the local AutoZone. It has a metal case which I prefer to the clear plastic. they're cheap 'nuf so I keep a spare under the seat.

In my car, I had a K & N aftermarket intake.  I had my oil tested after 20,000 miles (yeah, it's AMSOIL) and it was fine except for a high silicon level.  Ouch.  I reinstalled the stock intake system (with $$$ Honda air filter) and after another 20,000 miles the silicon level was much lower, within normal levels.  No difference in detectable power, of course.  

I don't drive the car on gravel.

Good to hear that the stock filter works so well.  We've had several Honda's over the years.  At one time there were four total, now just two.  We do 90% of the work ourselves, mostly with Honda factory parts.

Yeah, I put in a new oil filter every 5,000 miles so there's at least a quart of top up oil in that time.  I only have 250,000 miles on the car so far so who knows how long it can last.  I don't run extended mileage on my BMW or my Triumph even though I also use AMSOIL in it as I suspect the more extreme temperatures would be worse for the oil than in a water cooled motor.
