Just seen a picture of an R65 GS (1987) for sale. I didn't know such a model existed. Anyone know anything about it? I like the look of it!

Yeah, I knew they existed, but I had never seen two for sale at the same time!
I really can't say I have seen any for sale, now that I think about it.
There might be more R45's in the U.S. than there are R65G/S'.

I recall reading about the GS when researching the R65 before I bought mine. (Perhaps it's on Noemi Berry's site; I can't remember.) Anyway, the source said that the R65GS was manufactured and sold in Europe for several years, but never exported to the USA market. I note that by the currency in the eBay listing that both bikes are for sale overseas, so the listings are consistent with the previous information.

I haven't seen any information re whether any GS bikes have reached the States via "unofficial" channels.

Somebody on this forum has one that he heavily modified into more of a cafe bike, but I can't find the thread!  Surplus Danish army model.

The Danish army used the r65g/s in the nineties. They were sold on auction where several hundred were up for bids in 2003 and 2004.

There were two versions, one with 50 HP and one with 35 HP.

It was never exported to the states.

As artillery battery commander I had a runner who had a Danish championship in off-road riding. He was really fun to watch when he rode that r65 g/s across a newly plowed field at  speed (g/s stands for Gelände/Strasse ~ Country/Street).

The 65 gs was an offspring from the 80 monolever from 1980 and was produced from  November 1987 till November 1992 for the European market only. A very nimble little bike which I would have bought myself had I not been adviced to by the r65 instead. The auction prices were rather high BTW, between $2000 and $3000. Some of the bikes sold had only done a few thousand miles and especially the ones used by the Military Police were in demand as they were better kept and had the strong engine.

They never came to the UK either, but do come up occasionally.  Generally from a European Military source, which I think were the main customers - certainly with regard to numbers.  Not heard a bad thing about them.

Not sure I would want a 35 hp model of anything though - full power please!
