I already purchased the tool set, and after talking to a machinist that comes into work to make bushings for landing gear attach points, he said it would be no problem to 'open' the adjustable collet to fit, if it was too small.
I checked around, and until you get into the high cost tool sets, 1.25 inches is all you can find.
I'm kicking myself now, as my employer had a Snap-On blind hole bearing puller, to remove starter shear shaft adapters from the Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines that we had on the 737-200 aircraft, after these aircraft were removed from service about 4 years ago, they sold the tooling for not much more than scrap metal prices, cost for the same tool set today is over $1600.
The other puller from Harbor Freight, looks like it would work on the steering head and wheel bearings, but there isn't much clearance on the swing arm bearing race .
