Hello, My name is Gus and I have been riding since I inherited my brother's Allstate Moped at age 14. After that I got a new 1971 Yamaha 125.  My brother bought a 1969 R69 in 1973 and I decided that I liked BMW motorcysles.  The 125 wore out about 1977 and I got married in 1979.  I have 3 children all young adults now and I love my wife but none of them care for motorcycles.  I bought a 1972 Suzukie 185 with 1200 miles on it in 1990.  I redicovered the theraputic powers of riding and enjoyed that bike for several years until it was stolen.  In 2002 I bought a new Kawasaki KLR250.  Its a nice bike and I enjoy riding it a lot but I am 5'8" and I always feel spastic because the bike is too tall for me.  Finally in February of 2007 I located a 1980 R65 on the internet in Charlotte, NC and I bought it.  I was able to go to the Biltmore in Asheville last year with my brother and two of his friends.  This Spring we are going to go to the gathering "if nothing don't happen".
I hope this is not too much info and I don't spell or type too well.

Welcome aboard Gus.  Good to hear from you.  Please post a picture when you get a chance.
There seems to be quite a few R65ers who are trying to get to the Gathering of the Clans later this month.  Although not all will be riding their "Little Cow".   Hope to see you there.   ;)
Best,
Ed

Glad you found this group.  We have another member from SC as well, a moderator, no less.  Hope you can make it up for the Gathering weekend.  Looks like we'll have a good crowd representing the R65 forum - I think my count is up to 8 including you!  We would love to see a picture of your bike.
