what do you all think?
I bought a R80RS back in june and then just a month after buying it a taxi pulled out of a junction in front of me and wrote the bike off and nearly me too!
So here i am back on another Boxer.
Hopefully collecting it on Sunday!
Cheers
Ben

You got yourself a great looking bike, and a good price, with all of the accessories included.
 Welcome aboard, and post often.

Welcome !

I also think that you got that R65 for a good price - too bad about the R80 - it looked very nice, too.

The important thing is that you are OK and survived that mishap !

Cheers !

Hi again,
So bike looks nice but comes with a new tank as old one has a leak.
My question is do i A paint it myself with the spray cans from halfords etc?
Or take it to a spay shop?
And do i stick with silver or go for... Blue maybe?
Cheers
Ben

I saw in the eBay auction ad, that the leak was in a welded seam.

Is it a rust through the seam, or has the weld just separated ?

Another member here ,Thrang, just did some resealing of a rusted tank on an asian bike that his wife rides. Didn't sound like it was very costly to do it.

I think the chances of getting any where near a match on the paint is going to be minimal with spray type rattle cans.

Hi,
Aparently it has rusted through from inside- probably a seem.
It comes with a new tank... so will probably just use the new one. thanks for the info on the paint tho. Am thinking i may get mudguard and side pannels etc all painted by a pro as always looks nice to have a shiney new paint job! just wondering how much that would cost....?
Just been looking through motorworks catalogue and already have LED rear light and Xeon headlight on my list as will be commuting on it in the dark! have any of you fitted the LED tail light?
Cheers
Ben

I have the LED tailight Ben that flashes when one applies the brake. Works well I figure as so far no one has rear ended the bike!

Also have the modulating headlight and am still thinking about it's usefulness as a red truck in Jackson WY pulled out in front of me after waiting quite awhile watching me approach. I figure he MAY have thought I was flashing him to turn???? I JUST managed to miss him as he screeched past it seemed one foot away from my front tire!!!!!

I can't take the chance he wasn't spooked by it so I now turn off the modulator while in downtown traffic. Modulator may be OK for going along the highway as they sure see ya sooner!
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".
