well not the store or the racing teams but the darn books they sell. we bought a "new" old home and my wife thought it would be a great idea to have one of these books just in case we have questions. the only question i have is why cant they have more of the basic stuff and not the fancy stuff.

my lovin wife found this really neat floor inlay kit with a how to install one into our hardwood floors that i spent the whole weekend sanding and getting ready to stain and refinish. yes it would be really neat to have one or two in the floor but dang people stop giving her ideas!!

oh great as i was typing this she found something on doing tiling! man i need to lose that book somewhere!!

i think my biggest problem is that i wont say no to my wife. this is her dream home so i will make it what ever she wants.

the *critical* thing is to make sure that she understands how much $$$ you are saving by doing it yourself
and proving you are a highly skilled (and thus desirable) husband to keep around...   After my wife sees
me saving us thousands of $$ on home renovation/improvement projects, she is a little more understanding
when I find a "toy"...   But, I think that I've gotta do a few more projects to bank some more of her
"understanding wife" credits before I try to sneak another airhead into our barn...

Our house was built in 1903 I believe. I will be reminded Weds when the appraiser is here. We are refinancing.
Point is I just rewired kitchen electrical, installed base & wall cabinets, dishwasher, sink waste disposer, ceiling fan, faucet & soap dispenser.
This is the third house that we have bought as a "fixer". And will be the last.
That we both agree on.
Still have rest of house to wire, more ceiling fans to install, hvac upgrade to "green", new fence for livestock ( two Saint Bernards are "livestock"; trust me )
We figure another 5-10 years & $10-20,000. Then hopefully market will return our investment when we sell. According to this years tax assesment we appreciated $43,000 this past year. Yeah, right. We are contesting the assesment. Which the appraisal will provide ample arguement for our side of the tax dispute.
Oh, did I mention Brenda & I have been together since 1977?
