That "Shoe-Goo" works great!  [smiley=thumbsu

I finally got around to putting some of my patches on my new mesh jacket the other day, and used the "Shoe-Goo" method to attach them.  I'm happy to report that this stuff really works!   ;)

I carefully placed a round wooden cutting block on top of the patch after applying the goo and then positioning the patch where I wanted it, then placed a one-gallon lug of water on the block to give some more pressure and weight.  I used the dining table to spread out the jacket to make sure the area where the patch was going to go was completely flat, and left it there overnight.  The next morning, I removed the jug and block, and inspected each of the patches.  They were all nice and secure!

Here's a couple of pics of the jacket and patches.  I still have a nice BMW Club of England patch to put on the jacket (thanks, Will!), and if Melena has any more R65.org patches left, I'd like to put on one of those as well.  Got any more, Melena?

And finally (just for laughs), yours truly modeling the jacket!  (Taking a photo of yourself using the camera's timer ain't as easy as you might think!)  ::)

Nice jacket, John!  I like it.   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]  And I'm sure you'll appreciate it during the hot summer days!   ;)

As far as patches go, the last 3 have been spoken for although I haven't received payment yet.  I'll see how that goes.  But maybe something can be done about this.  Can you imagine?  I'm down to the last 3 out of the 100 that were ordered.  It has only taken almost 3 years from those first threads of thought!   ;D

Well, if you want to give me your mailing address, I'll send the $5 to you and you can hang on to it until you decide if you've waited long enough for payment from whoever asked for them.  If we get up another order, put that $5 toward a patch me me!

BTW, I was wondering about something.  Did we ever send one of the patches to the BMW International Council of Clubs?

John, I've got a patch for you.  But to answer your other question, no we never did send one to the BMWICC.  I've got some questions on that, so I will PM you later.

Order more patches?   :o     ;)

If a few people want to go in on getting more patches I would think about it.  But I really don't want to have to get them all myself the next time, unless I could find somewhere else to do them where I didn't have to get so many all at once.  I'm sure we'll have a bit of a discussion on that.   [smiley=grin.gif]

Well at least we have a chat room to have real-time discussion when the time comes.

Thanks again, Justin and son-of-Justin...

Melena, if you need a patch for that organization, I have not shipped my package yet... ::)  (doing nothing is what I do best!)

Same for you, John.  Melena, if you had to renege on an order, just let me know.

Well, the reason I even brought up the deal about the BMWICC in the first place was because I'm also a member of another BMW forum, the "Chromeheads" (www.chromeheads.org) which is dedicated to the R1200C (my dream bike), and I read a posting the other day where they were now recognized by the BMWICC as an official "vitrual club" after getting at least 5 members to signed their application for recognition as a virtual club.  They had also made up a pretty neat patch, too (which I bought for when I finally get my "C") that was submitted to the BMWICC for approval (they followed the same guidelines we did when we designed our patch).   I thought we had sent one to them right after we got the patches in. (Which was what, two years ago?)

I thought we deserved to be officially recognized as well as a "virtual club" and be included at RA and MOA rallies as one of the virtual clubs attendees can indicate they are members of.   I don't think it costs anything to become a virtual club member like it costs the MOA and RA, since they have membership dues.  Personally, I think our organization (such as it is) is just as worthy as the Internet BMW Riders, the "Chain Gang" (dedicated to the F650 family of bikes), and the Oilheads.

Just my opinion, of course.  There may not be all that many of us R65 nuts out there, but I think we're just as important as any other group of BMW lovers!  8-)

Not to worry, Rob.  I've got it covered.  Plus, if you haven't shipped it yet I have something to send you that you might want to put in with it.

John, I'll send you a patch and you can send to BMWICC.  Since you know about this I'll let you do the paper work for it.  If you need any signatures to get us signed up as a Virtual Club, you know you've got mine!

And I'll find out what it will take to get more patches from the person I got them through before, just in case.   ;)

Send it on, Melena.  Let me know if you need my address again.

Since you will have a personal interest in this package, feel free to pester me so I get it mailed...  ::)

Does anyone know who has the .jpeg file made of the R65 patch?  (I can't even remember who actually did the digital artwork, was it Trolle or Stavros?)  The BMWICC may ask for a digital file photo of the patch, and I don't have a copy of what we ended up using.  Do you have a file copy, Melena?

If no one can locate the original JPG, I still have one fairly pristine patch that I haven't put on my
new jacket yet, which I could scan in and crate a JPG from.

I have the jpeg file.  I had to have it in order to get the patches made originally.   I never get rid of anything!   :o   ::)

I can e-mail it to you John!  Don't you need a real patch to send too?  I too can scan one in if need be.

There were lots of people working on this patch at the time.  I don't know who did the final version.  Although I could probably figure it out.  Stavros did the original CAD drawing of the motorcycles and the general set up of the patch.  I have them all!   ;D

Yeah, Melena, if you can email the .jpeg file of the patch and maybe a scanned image of the patch itself, that'd be great!

Use my Bellsouth email address:  johngjanssen@bellsouth.net

Danke Sehr!   8-)
