Ooh, that "shoe goo" idea sounds like that might be a good idea, Sue!   ;)

I think I'll give that a shot and see what happens!   The jacket ought to be here tomorrow, and I have a couple of patches to try out.  I'll let everyone know how it works out!

Oh, hell yeah!
Firstgear Mesh-Tex II (sorry John, can't afford that fancy 3.0  ;) ) waiting on the front porch when I got home today.

This thing's gonna be waaay more comfortable and cooler than either my old leather or the Tourmaster Jett textile jacket. Looks to be pretty warm with the liner in too, so probably fine until it's starts getting seriously chilly 'round here.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Sorry John, didn't mean to 'jack your thread: I'll shut up now.... :-[

I've always used shoe glue for popping patches on jackets. Not that I have many just a MAG england one on the arm and a Rush patch (me being a long time Rush head)

All you folks with your new fancy mesh jackets, now I think I'm gonna have
to get one to keep up with you all, and to adjust my heavy black leather
riding gear to the warming climate up here in the northern latitudes.
That newenough.com website seems to have a good selection and price on
those Mesh-Tex 3s now.... or maybe I'll really splurge on a Cortech GX Air ...

Just had my "maiden voyage" to school this morning, wearing my new First Gear Mesh-Tex 3.0 jacket (and I also got to wear my new Fulmer Modus helmet as well, which came in yesterday).  Wow!  How did I manage to get along without a mesh jacket all these years??   It is MUCH lighter than my old leather jacket, and the ventilation coming in thru the mesh felt wonderfully cool! Aaaahhh....   :D

I can't wait for it to get really hot around here later this summer!  (Boy if that last statement isn't a bit masochistic...)   ::)

Oh, and I can actually see thru the faceshield on my new Fulmer helmet.  I had no idea my old helmet's face shield was so damned scratched!

I'm going to buy some Shoe-Goo this weekend, and plan to put on a couple of patches next week while I enjoy a (much needed) two-week break between semesters at school.  I get to go see my son graduate from the U. of SC tomorrow with dual degrees in Religious Studies and Psychology (Suma Cum Laud, no less).  This is my weekend to play "proud papa"!  ;)

Congrats on graduating The Kid, John.
I've got one I hope to see "walk" next summer with double majors in Biology & Anthropology, who then plans on Medical $chool.
Hope it went well and a good time was had by all! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Been out riding most of the afternoon, and I must say, I heart my Mesh-Tex jacket! [smiley=thumbup.gif]

Couldn't quite figure out the physics of it before, but once underway, it all becomes clear... ;)
John, you are most correct!!

I picked up some Shoe Goo today, and plan on giving it a try on a patch this week, during my "uneventful vacation".  I got a nice 3" BMW roundel patch a the Atlanta Bike Show back in February, and figure that one is a good one to start with!

The graduation went well, and I kept it together pretty well until about 10 minutes before the start of the ceremony.  Pattimarie showed me Jonathan's name in the program with the italicized words, "Summa Cum Laude" beneath, and then it hit me.  Damn tears!  [smiley=cry.gif]

When he had his name announced and he walked across the stage, I grinned and started clapping my hands real fast, like some sort of idiot.  Pattimarie grabbed both of my hands, laughing.  I couldn't help myself.  Four years of his school were finally behind him, and I was beside myself with pride and joy!  Keep quiet, huh?  Screw that!!!

That evening, wwe took him out for dinner, and gave him his surprise graduation gift, an Apple MacBook (in black).  He never saw that one coming!  Here are a couple of pics from the big event.  The first is the look on his face as he realized just what it was he was unwrapping...
