Interesting BMW Model History video....
« on: May 10, 2007, 01:03:47 PM »
Hope this link works.  I got if from the "Chromeheads" R1200C forum.  Well, maybe not so much a "history", but the R65 and LS are both represented there!  Cool video...  8-)

Hey, that's one I did as a joke reply for a Boxerworks thread several weeks ago, which is why it isn't very polished and ends too soon!!

Here's one I found a little later (but I still think mine's better!! LOL).

If I remember correctly the title was "The Terror of Highway 101".  It was from somewhere in the mid 50s to early 60s.

The song is "Black Denim Trousers and Motorcycle Boots".

It was a top 10 hit for The Cheers in about 1955 or '56.

It was written by the incredible Lieber and Stoller duo--the same pair that wrote tons of music--everything from Big Mama Thornton's "Hound Dog" (later covered by Elvis somebody-or-other), Elvis' Jailhouse Rock (and about a couple dozen other Elvis songs), and songs for many others including Stand By Me, Kansas City, Young Blood, Love Potion #9, There Goes My Baby, On Broadway, Ruby Baby, most of the stuff by the Coasters, etc., etc., etc.

Black Denim Trousers is a piece from their early years.

If anyones interested I can email a WMA file of it, just PM me. It's about 2 meg in size. I captured it from a stream somewhere on the net (I have an audio capture program, comes in handy!!).

Now that it's been identified (can't view movie files, takes too long) I can say that I've known that song since I was about 14.  That was back in the 70s, I think.

I rode a ways with my brother today, on my Triumph which has always lacked a speedometer that worked, since I've owned it.

He says then when my bike is cruising along happily, I'm doing about 85.  Oh my.  I seriously doubt his 2003 Yamaha speedometer's accuracy, but wouldn't it be nice?

I would probably be more inclined to believe it than a BMW speedo.  :P  Time some mile markers.

Great video, John.  :)
The song is fantastic. I´ve never heard it before, but now I don´t get it out of my mind.

I took your link to the Kleine-Boxer.Forum. Hope, it´s ok. ;)

Being a huge audiophile (my cd collection takes up an entire wall) I have two other versions of Black denim trousers one a rockabilly cover by Chris Spedding, two a french version by Edith Piaf.
