Having spent the last day or so in the shed working on Bimbo2, and sorting the front break caliper on the wifes ZR 750 while listening to the new Rush album, and BBC Radio Cumbria I was wondering what (if any) people listen to when working on the bike?

ZZ Top makes for good jams when general wrenching is involved.  But, if a problem requires a lot of analysis and thought something from ELP might be better for stirring up the cognitive juices...

I listen to classic rock, via a curious radio station here in the Phoenix area, KCDX 103.1 FM,, it is a fully automated radio station, no commercials, dj's, weather or traffic reports, just 2 or 3 station identifications an hour to placate the FCC . You can listen to it online as well, this comes in handy as the transmitter is about 25 miles away and is of low power output.

I would usually drag out a small portable boom box and either listen to the local classic rock station, or pop in a CD and enjoy whatever I grabbed from the old CD rack.  However, since my wife gave me the iPod Shuffle for our anniversary a couple of months ago, I pop in the old ear buds and switch the iPod on.  That little bugger had enough room for every one of the Beatles' US albums (16 in all) as well as the 3-CD box set by the Stones, "The London Years" (when they recorded on London Records before starting their own label in 1970), Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Greatest Hits, and there was STILL room for another couple of CDs of various artists, to "spice up" the listening experience.  All that music in something a little bigger than a postage stamp!

Now if I can just figure out a way to keep the neighbor's dog from howling when he hears me trying to match Paul's harmony vocal with John!

i listen to loud music! Cake, Johnny Cash (he's not country! more rockabilly?) Clash, Sex Pistols, Misfits, Black Flag, Korn, Green Day, alot of old punk and lets not forget my boys favorite "Buthole Surfers" has made a revial at my house. My oldest boys (both are 13) found my old collection of tapes, records and early CD's! they have been listen to some so i have been also.

Throw in a little X, Ramones, Lou Reed, Social Distortion, Iggy, Mott, Pixies, PJ Harvey, Tom Verlaine, Rollins Band, Richard Thompson....
Got 2 good local college stations too, thank goodness.

I kind of liked Creepy Dead folk... Going by the four tracks on my space they sound like the kind of band that would go down well at a bike rally.
