I've got a 19 liter Marsee bag.  Its expandible and has the 3M reflective material on all sides - magnetic with a safety strap on the front.  It has always stayed on even when the bike was on its side! <ouchees>

I use a Marsee as well.  I wore out my BMW tankbag and moved on to the Marsee magnetic 10 liter. I'm very pleased with it and Bill's right, I've never had it try to leave the tank.  Very strong magnets, good map pocket plus I like the reflective stuff on it.

I learned the hard way about using all the expansions in a tank bag.  My very first big trip down to the Keys, I was trying to make a U-turn with a VERY full tankbag.  It tipped over and hit my kill switch.  Down I went!   [smiley=furious3.gif]   Now I try to never expand my tank bag...

Geeze, I hate it when stuff like that happens!  :-[  A couple of years ago I stopped at a convenience store about a block from my house while on the way to work.  I finished my business, hopped back on the bike, and headed out.  Now, with one block the engine was not very warmed up and I never let the bike sit and warm up.  The driveway out of the store is extremely steep and as I chugged to the top, and just as soon as laid into a 90 right out onto the road, the engine coughed and died!   >:(

I was barely moving to start with, and when the engine quit all forward motion ceased with the bike leaning in the "downhill" direction at a quite extreme angle.  :o  I did the best I could laying it over on it's r/h side before being ejected.  :P Other than my pride all that got tore up was the knee out of a brand new pair of Dockers and the r/h mirror cracked.   [smiley=furious3.gif]

THEN, since the bike had fell "downhill" at about 30 - 40 degrees bast the horizontal plane I couldn't pick it up myself as right where I needed to plant my feet was a nice expanding puddle of gas which felt about like an ice patch on top of the asphalt!   [smiley=uhoh2.gif] Thankfully a good samaritan stopped and helped me get it righted, I hopped back on, and headed to work.

NOW, whenever I head out of that parking lot I keep the revs way up and slip the clutch a lot... :-/

Same thing about 18 months ago at work in the bike sheds.
After a night shift, started the bike, deciding without choke as it was a warm morning, and after assuring it was running smooth, pulled away and started heading out the exit, which needs a sharp right turn to clear a curb and bollards, have done it hundreds of times over the years and do it feet up. Halfway in the turn gave it extra throttle to eject me from the exit, only to have the engine go PHUT and die, stopping me dead, front wheel cranked to the right, leaning over, and feet up!!
We fell over into the metal exit of the shed and fortunately the bike didn't go full over, but was stopped by the back of the seat taking the full brunt. Sharp metal sheeting and vinyl don't match, and ended up with a decent rip for my troubles. I had to dismount and unjam the bike from its predicament, I don't think anyone saw. The rip was repaired professionally and I can't even see where it was now.

A short piece of string, dyed pink and knotted part the way along with a half nelson. Originally intended to scare midgets on wet Sundays, but has in recent times been used to predict the flight path of migratory birds with bloodshot eyes. Little is known of the origin of the name, but Nietzsche's sister is the likely culprit.

Otherwise, look here  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bollard

Well, I bought my tank bag - got an Oxford. Really top quality, built in back back pack straps to covert it when you zip it off the bike, lots of good features, converts to a tail bag etc etc.

Pricey, but all Oxford gear I've seen lasts, and holds a decent resale if you want to lob it out later.

Now I just need the time to go on a trip.

Was a bit excited when in there and bought some Joe Rocket supermoto gloves. Nice gloves, but probably could have got something more practical....anyway I like them.

Back on the night shift now, 6am to 2pm NY time....(that's 10pm to 6am Sydney time) so I'll need to address the lights now - wouldn't mind some small spottys.

Below is a link from an email I received today, from the good folks at A&S BMW hawking their weekly special, for a helluva good deal on a 20L Marsee magnetic tank bag.
I know it's been a while since we were all discussing the merits of various bags, but if anyone's still looking for luggage, this one's definitely priced right.
Good luck [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
