My take on BMW's Red Smoke

Here is a peek at the current paint job I'm doing.  My version of BMW's Red Smoke...   This one turned out to be a lot more work with "modern" paints than they did in the "old days" with lacquer...

Looks real good, Justin.  Is that for a paying customer?  I think they will be happy.

How did you do the pin stripe?

Yeah, paying customer.   The stripe is done by spraying the stripe color, laying the stripe out with tape, spraying top-coats, and removing the tape before clear coating...

though it is probably considered heresy, I've though about the possibility of doing something
like that, but with the Henna Red-to-black for the little R65LS..  I don't have the skills or
equipment to paint it myself though.

Price?  It all depends on the condition of what I start with but the painting portion of this type of job would probably be about 50% higher than a regular single color job.

I'm thinking I'll try the "good old days" lacquer paint when I'm done sanding and prepping my RS fairing. 'Cause jeeeez louise, there's no way I can make the new stuff look half as good as yours.

That looks good, Justin.  While waiting for my Triumph paint to flash in between coats I was playing with my gun and got it to fog like that, tho I don't know how you did the masking and set up for that job.

Do you use a fresh air respirator?  I want one.
