Lost My Tail Light Assembly
« on: January 13, 2007, 06:58:08 PM »
On the way home from work today, heard an unusual noise, couldn't figure out what it was. A car passed me and the driver pointed to the back of the bike, so I thought it would be a good idea to stop and find out what was wrong. When I got off of the bike, it was quite obvious what went wrong. The two bolts that secure the tail light assembly and the turn directionals, had pulled through a big crack in the plastic rear fender. The whole assembly was still attached by the wiring harness, but fell into the rear wheel, and broke  all of the plastic parts. So I am in need of all the parts, two turn directionals and the entire tail light assembly. If you know of any for sale let me know. It's always something breaking when a vehicle gets to be 26 years old , and is still ridden every other day!

Bummer, Bob.  You might e-mail Rev. Eddie.  All I have to offer is the reflector and bulbs that I removed when I installed the LED insert offered by Rick at Moto Elektrik.

I just saw that stuff on ebay a few days ago, but I don't have a link and don't remember when the auction was due to end.  (I didn't need it, so paid little attention.)

I didn't know parts fell off BMWs!

Well, I got the stop/tail light assembly on it's way from Austin, Tx. ($53 total for the assembly and shipping), and I bought two turn directional housing/reflector and lens for $39 at the local dealer, I was surprised that it was an in stock item. So for $92 I have everything replaced! I guess it's just one more problem area to look out for on our aging bikes.

So while doing the circle check on our bikes, I guess we start wiggling things to see if they are loose. :o

Received my parts today, they are in as good as condition as the original parts that got destroyed about 2 weeks ago. I'll get myself out to the garage and get the new fender and all of the other parts installed. Nice day finally, at least for Phoenix, clear sunny and the temp at 3 pm is 67 F. a bit cool in the morning, been averaging upper 20's - low 30's F.
