Now that's news! Scavenging new BMWs???

I saw a report on the national news tonight about a freighter that has 'wrecked' off the coast of England.  The crew all abandoned ship and now the freight is starting to find it's way free and onto the shores.  They reported that once it comes ashore, it's 'free for the taking'.  Or once was by law, but I guess that's changed now.  They were showing videos of dozens of people on the shore gathering whatever they could find...including NEW BMW MOTORCYLES STILL IN THE CRATE!!!  Now that would be a find...wonder if they'll get away with riding it off?  


I hear they plan to close down the beach now.

Yeah, I was that on Boxerworks.  Incredible, and too bad about the environmental aspect.

Its not illegal to remove it from the beach, but by law, anythnig slavaged should be reported within 28days to the wreck-master appointed for this boat.

SO......if the guy who found the blue beemer doesn't report it, do you think they'll notice him riding around now he's made international headlines?

Watching the news here made it sound "illegal" and like the authorities were trying to track down folks that had been carting stuff off.  Good ol' slanted reporting strikes again.  Now, I really AM jealous!  :P  I wonder if the "famous" beemer will wind up on e-Bay?  ;)

Its crazy over there. Watching the news here, its a quiet little village, but has almost doubled in popln with scavengers. They're on the beach all night with torches (some leaving kids on the3 sand unsupervised near the surf) and they'll pinch ANYTHING. Then they walk back throughthe village, realise what hey stole was rubbish and dump it.

One guy had all these huge pieces of a combine harvester in his yard because people kept realising they couldn't do anything with it (but were willing to drag it 500m before finding out!)

It was green, so I suppose it was a John Deere!!!
