Nice looking R65RT, huh?  ;)

This is a pretty fine looking example of the R65 in its "RT" attire, don't you think?  I'm guessing it's an '85 or later model, judging by the monoshock setup.  Makes me wonder just how difficult it would be to put an RT fairing on Britta!

I'm thinking that it would be much easier on a post-'84 model, as the frames were
the same dimensions after that point.   The brackets, mounting points and bolts would
all be the same  - otherwise I  imagine more extensive modifications would be needed.

I don't think much in the way of mods would be required.  The headstock is drilled for the upper fairing mount so you would only need the "cross-bar" and the lower mounts which attach to the motor mounts.  The hand-laid fairing on my R65"RS" uses BMW mounting hardware.

There were plenty of RT fairings mounted to the pre '85 R65s.  I think a dealer in Chicago created a few back when they were new models???

There are a few hits on Google Images, including the BMW Red Paint Codes page.

I wonder how often a complete fairing pops up for sale.  Anyone have any idea about how much one of these cost?  :-?

I must have one! I've not seen a complete RT fairing for sale but then again I'd never have found an LS fairing if I hadn't advertised for one on bmwoa. Got it for $50 too!

There was an R45RT fairing on ebay just last week.  I don't know what it went for though.

Wow, it went for only $85US!

I would say someone got a great deal.

I would not be shy to see if the winner would want to part with it for a profit, if I were to want it (I don't).

That was a good deal/steal!  I've almost got enough pieces to make two.  I have the one I removed from the '81 RT I bought and odds and ends I've gathered over the years...

(Groan......) Story of my life....  :-[  Always a day late and a dollar short!  Oh, well......

Perhaps after Christmas I just might start a search in earnest for a fairing setup to convert Britta into a Gen-u-ine RT!  Justin, I might commision you to handle the paint job of any fairing I buy, too! ;)
