What is the magic trick
« on: December 03, 2006, 11:16:32 AM »
...to adding a pic to your profile? I've tried drag-n-drop, copy and paste, emailing & adding to Yahoo Photos, etc.
Anyone??!
Thanks.

Hmmm, nice color.  Bike would look fantastic if it all matched!  ;)

Hey, it's so close a match that it's not discernible to the naked eye.
The painter did a helluva job!!

Justin,
You did that?   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]   Looks really nice.  I like the color too.

NC Steve,
So what is the trick?  I think someone said something earlier, but I haven't figured it out yet.  What did you do to get the picture in the avatar space?

Melena,  I think I posted the procedure on here somewhere.  Basically you have it on the web somewhere and in one of your profile options you put the link to the image.  The system will scale it to fit but it would be best if you put up a pic with a 640x480 aspect as I set the sizing on the avatar space for that ratio.  So, if you put a tall, skinny image into the box it'll make you all squishey looking!  ;D

Thanks Justin!

I really don't want to look all squishey.  Hey, if I do it the other way maybe it will make me look tall and willowy?   ;D

I remember this now.  I don't have a place on the web for a picture except on Yahoo pictures and that won't work.  I'll figure out something.  Maybe I can make up a website for myself.  Yeah, in my spare time.   [smiley=lolk.gif]

Hey Melena,

What finally worked for me was to drag & drop a pic onto my desktop, go into profile and hit "modify", then add the pic under "options". I selected "add my own pic", took out the "http://" that was already there, right-clicked my pic and copied the link into that space.
I think.....

Here's another shot of Justin's handywork:

SEE, now I can't make it work!!

Okay, I've finally figured out how to resize my too-large pics so they'll post here. although I'm sure there's an easier way. That 250 KB makes it kinda tough.
Next question is, how do some of you manage to post multiple pics in 1 post? I can only attach 1 pic, and if I go back into "modify" I have to drop 1 to add another. And, how do you get past that 250KB limit again?

Justin? Va Steve? Y'all seem to have this down pretty well.
Can you help a man out?

Thanks guys, and also to anyone else who may be more "electronically advanced" than myself.

NCSteve,

I don't 'attach' the photos when I put them in my replies.  I use the "[*IMG]...[/IMG*]" with the url (and no *) where the picture is stored.  I use Photobucket.com (as advised from the last forum) to store the photos I want to post.  I have posted up to four pictures with no problems.  Photobucket actually supplies the code needed to insert them into your posts.  Real nifty!  So all you have to do is copy and paste them into your message.  You do have to upload any pictures you want to post.

If you want to post something very large you're gonna have to put it somewhere else and link to it as msbuck said.

Aida, thanks mucho for the photobucket.com suggestion!
I'm all signed up now, and will play with it more tonight, once I get home from my daily "Life in Hell" gig. :P
