82 LS
« on: August 22, 2019, 03:04:05 PM »
Hello, I'm a old guy who has had one of about everything in the BMW lineup except a R65LS. I took care of that last weekend by picking up a silver LS with 22K on it but probably hasn't moved in about 15 years so needs lots of attention. So sure I'll be availing myself  of all the expertise that I found on this forum.I've been slowly going through all the posts so I don't ask dumb questions that have already been asked a gazillion times. Thanks Arch.

Welcome Arch,

The natives are  friendly and you won't be shot a noon for any question, even the old ones, that's what makes this list so informative. We all feel free to speak up because we're among friends.

Hi there - have fun restoring it back to the road. As Wilcom says everyone is friendly & helpful. I just finished a full resto of my 1984 R65 - it was interesting & mostly fun - just waiting for spring to arrive to finish off the final tune up -
.
It's a great bike the R65 - although my barrels were shot so my mechanic - who did the full rebuild - convinced me to go for a Siebenrock 860cc conversion.
.
Look forward to some photos [ch128077][ch128521]
