79 R65 Clutch screw torque value

Can any one tell me what the clutch screws on my 1979 R65 should be torqued to?  Clymer BMW 500-1000- 1970-1982 says 17 ft. lb. I know thats not right because I just snapped one.  Time to reorder some more screws!

17 in/lbs would be closer for the 8mm thread.

Clymers and no doubt Haynes copied the 17 ftlbs from the original BMW workshop manual but it's wrong and probably intended for the 8 mm screws used on other airheads. 

For your 6 mm screws you only need 7-8 ftlbs.

There are a few mistakes in the BMW manuals which get taken up by the likes of Clymers and Haynes so you can't necessarily trust any of them.  If a recommended torque value seems high always cross check against a standard table for the size and spec of fastener in question. Ironically the very first pages in the BMW manual include standard torque tables although with immense stupidity that can only be the result of men in white coats they give the torque values in units of Mkp which is equivalent to 9.8 Nm or 7.2 ftlbs.

Sorry georgesgiralt I should have been more precise.  The six screws that hold the clutch pack to the fly wheel.

I have a factory shop manual, it was charts for standard torque values for bolts and nuts .
For 6 mm bolt diameter, there a various torque values for different property classes of bolts .
The lowest value is 4 ft/lbs, the highest is 11 ft/lbs .
I'd say Barry has correct values for torque .
