i have posted this question before  but did not realy get an answer when adjusting the steering on 86 mono do i have to remove the top yoke  and is there a special tool to turn the slotted ring  also can anyone tell me what size the top stem nut is for some reason none of this stuff is shown in the manual maybe its obvious stuff  i dont know any way as always any help gr eatfully received

Do you know if the head bearings have been inspected, cleaned, regreased at all before ?  If not, this may be the golden opportunity for you !
The monoshock bikes have a slightly different steering head nut and somewhat different (K-bike) fork tubes, but I think that alot of the process information you might be looking for are discussed in this thread from our tech section from way back when.  Take a look through it (3 pages long) and see if you still have questions.. maybe it will help.
