cool factor from rarity in the U.S.,

Major cool factor!!!

I have a pin up of the guards on the wall right next to Rita Hayworth. I found a pair that had been on ebay euro for months without selling and I messaged her to see if she still had them? She did  but decided to keep them because she had gotten another Airhead.....arrrrrgh......... timing is everything.

They worked very well and did not rotate on the down tube
blocked about 75% of the wind off of my legs

The existing should be just fine. I have those on my Ural and they are pretty solid on mounting.

Just for future reference what is the OD of the down tubes on a Ural
The R65 is 32.18 mm (1.267 inches)
The clamps had to tightened until it closed all the way

Thanks for the report MrClubike.  And it sounds like this all fit straight off the rack, no need to modify the guards or the hardware after all?

Were these for a particular Ural?  I'm not sure how much variation there is between their models.  But these would be good to know about if they were a good fit.

Will measure the down tubes tomorrow and get back to you.

I only found one part number for the Ural
I don't think they have changed the frames enough to make different  ones

I did open up the angle on the brackets to make them angle out but that was it

I may make stronger bracket just so I can mount a water bottle cage on the back of them

The Ural down tubes are 1 3/8. Only one style other sometimes you an find older metal leg guards.

That is a bloody good idea!

The original Ural brackets worked good  with some tweaking

I just liked the looks and strength of the Heinrich brackets so I made up a set

And I moved them back closer to my legs

I am sure the Ural brackets would be safer in a crash (more forgiving)

That explains why the clamps have to be closed all the way to grip the tubes

Nice MrClubike.  Did you fabricate those completely from scratch or did you have the parts and welded them together?

Those brackets look familiar but I can't remember where I've seen them before.
