Ural parts & accessories that fit modern airhead

One of the reasons I got an Airhead is that they are very straight forward in design
Making them easy to work on and easily modified
That being said I  like to tinker and modify my R65
(but i do not do any thing that cant be reversed)

I was rooting around and found the Leg Guards made for the Ural
I am going to get a set and mount them up

I may have to make some more substantial mounting brackets 

Has any one else done this or used any parts from the other Air Head clones

The existing should be just fine. I have those on my Ural and they are pretty solid on mounting.

I think Rob V. had a pair of leg-guards on his but not sure who made 'em.  Maybe he'll chime in...

Mine - made by Heinrich of Germany, and near impossible to get in the US.  Still manufactured, I believe.
None are made for the shape of the R65 tank, and I had to reshape mine a bit.

Those are very nice looking guards
but like you said hard to find and pricey

If I have to modify or make my own mounting hardware
I will make it like the Heinrich

got the guards mounted up
I am a little concerned about the air being blocked from the cylinders
I only had to bend them out a bit to clear the gas tank
I may modify the clamps to prevent them from rotating on the tubes
I have not had a chance to ride it yet but will this weekend and report back

New ones come two strips of rubber the width of the clamps 1/16 thinks. That keeps them from turning.

Yes it has them installed but they may still rotate
i will just have to ride it and see

Over all the quality is good and the looks of them do match the OEM BMW hand guards

For me, it was wind protection in cold weather, and cool factor from rarity in the U.S., anytime.

Cool, thanks. I might have to look into those to match the handguards.  I don't do much super cold weather riding but being able to block some wind without the full fairing would be nice.

And they're not too obtrusive either.
