Clicking sound when accelerating

I was doing a quick ride this afternoon when I noticed a clicking sound from the bike everytime I fully release the clutch while accelerating from a complete stop.

As soon as I arrived back home, I tried to trace the source of the sound. When I spin the rear wheel at neutral, no discernable noise whatsoever. When I spin it in 1st gear with the clutch released, the transmission sounds like a bag of nuts being shook. Could it be a Transmission output bearing going bad?

I do know that a certain amount of clanking is normal on our transmissions though.

But it seems weird that I'm only able to replicate the sound when I operate the clutch.

There are shock absorber springs in both the gearbox and drive shaft. I wonder if one or the other has broken.

There is a bearing at the back of the transmission that the clutch push rod rides on .

The clutch push rod rides on the diaphragm spring when you pull the clutch lever in .

I don't think you can remove the push rod with the swing arm installed, or without removing the transmission .

By the way, I used the bike again. The clicking sound is gone when the bike was cold, but reappeared after a 45 min run. It's not super loud, but it can be felt at the footpegs.

Last time i disassembled my clutch, it was in bad shape. But I was lazy and just repacked the thing with grease and put it back. That was around 5 years ago. Hahaha
I'll replace that asap. Hopefully that's just it. Any other opinions are welcome.

Part no. 3 Right?

Be aware that your throwout bearing may not be the same as pictured. Your bike is a 1981 so it may have either the older Torrington type bearing, or the later ball bearing. I do know that you can use either providing all the ancillary equipment is swapped as well.

Do you remember which one you have?

Mind you, the bearings are cheap, so buying one of each is a viable option. I've been racking my brains and my memory tells me that you can still have either bearing even if you have a heavy flywheel or a skeleton clutch carrier.

Me too but it might have been during a spline lube with the swinging arm pulled back an inch or two.
