Let's play: name that part!
« on: May 31, 2017, 08:40:49 PM »
Howdy all,

The images attached are of two bits that I found underneath the R65 after having worked on it. I'm not sure about either, but everything seems to be working just fine.

One looks like maybe part of an electrical connector, or perhaps a bit that helps hold some plastic on? I was working mostly with electrical stuff the day this fell out.
The other looks like some sort of grommet.

Does anyone in the brain trust just happen to know off the top of his/her head? I'm stumped, and I've had a look over the fiche.

Let the game begin!

P.S.: I owe an update on preparations for the cross-country ride, hopefully I'll have that to share some time soon!

I think the first one is a thing-a-ma-jig that is used to attach the whatcha-macallit in place. The second one is definitely a do-hicky but they have been NLA for at least 10 years. You can modify one from an R80 to fit but they don't seem to last very long.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

The rubber grommet is for the side panel .

The spring clip I believe was used to secure the wires for the neutral switch on one of the stiffening ribs on the transmission case .

I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!
