Key Blanks
« on: March 16, 2017, 01:55:58 PM »
I have only one ignition key and would like to get a spare (s) made. It's a "Neiman" key and appears original. I've looked at a couple sites and they have some maybe fits. Wunderlicht looked similar. Has anybody got blanks before and where ?

I got extra keys made at a local locksmith, don't bother with retail outlets they don't stock the blanks .

If you do get original OEM key blanks, they are steel and a locksmith won't cut them, real tough on the cutting wheel .

Probably not worth it unless you need other pieces and parts but I just got some from Motobins. They have plain, folding, logo-ed and the prices are OK.
If you're just looking for any blank that will match (not Neiman), there are a couple that I was told work, maybe Taylor & Ilco?  Seems like there's one that Volvo uses that's similar to ours.
As Bob says, not everyone will be able to deal with these. If you're not comfortable getting them online, call around to your local "real" locksmiths.

Sorry, I covered the end of mine with rubber and can't read the numbers.

I went to the local locksmith, they matched it up I think they said it was a BMW car blank. It was a regular solid key not the fold over type but it worked great.

It's been quite a while since I got my spare key, but I think I ordered the folding blank from motobins.  The one they sent didn't match the one that came with the bike, but it was nice and snazzy with a colored bmw logo.

Edit: just pulled the key out of my pocket and the logo isn't as shiny as it used to be, but it's still nifty and it's a neiman.

The Neimain company has been bought by, if not mistaken, a company named GSK.
So you won't find blanks labeled Neiman anymore unless they are NOS.
In France you can find the blanks at either the BMW dealer or at a large variety of locksmith. But, Neiman is a European company and widely used type of locks in cars, bikes, mopeds...

As I only received one original folding key with the bike at purchase, I looked for and found a folding reproduction with the little BMW logo on Amazon for $12. Had it cut by my local key maker for $3.50. Works great!
