speedo multiplug loose connection electrical?
« on: February 24, 2017, 04:20:53 PM »
I have an issue whereas my oil light only works when I wiggle the electrical Multiplug on the underside of the speedo unit.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem, and what was the outcome. I'll investigate soon.
I did the engine oil and filter  change today and found this little faux pas.
Good timing mind!

These bikes are no longer spring chickens. All of the connectors could benefit for disconnecting, cleaning, coating with a good dielectric grease and reconnecting.

Stripped off the speedo assembly today and found that the female part of the multi plug had elongated sockets. Just crimped them up a bit so that they're now round again, a bit of silicone based dielectric gel (from maplins) and it's now working fine.
Happy days.
Next job - figure out why the indicators work only with the lights on, and that's the front indicators only!
Something to do with when a previous owner bodged on the ex police fairing I'm guessing, judging by the choc block connectors added behind the speedo.
