Krauser bag latches
« on: May 13, 2016, 12:29:22 AM »
I got my Krauser pannier racks back from my powder coater and I seem to be missing one on the latchs that locks the pannier to to the rack. To be honest I can'r be sure they were both in the box I took to the powder coater since they were removed more than two years ago. The problem I am having is all the replacements I find on fleabay look different than mine. Mine has two openings for the lock to engage with(the furthest from the end being the locked position) but all the replacements available on fleabay only have one opening. Anyone know id they are interchangeable?

I've got the same as the ebay ones, for Krauser Starlet bags.  I haven't had to change the locking plates before but I reckon you'd be able to work with the ebay ones for a good result.  That's unqualified of course but if you can't find anything else I'd give them a go.

I've had a bit of time to put up some pictures of my bags:

I had some time this afternoon so I pulled a piece of stainless plate from the scrap box and made a duplicate of the one remaining latch that I had. Not sure why mine had the two cutouts for the lock to engage but is seems like a good safety feature. While filing and trial fitting the homemade latch to engage properly, it came out of the first opening a couple of times but caught on the second opening. Less chance of losing a pannier to the road gods.
