RT Bars on a R65
« on: March 06, 2016, 10:29:09 PM »

I am installing a set of RT bars on my 82 R65.
$50.00 (US) on eBay delivered
If anyone was wondering the cables  and hoses will reach just fine.
All I had to do was cut the wire ties and move the cables and hoses out a little
It brings the grips back about 2 inches (50mm)

Well I have the bars on.
Even though the wires and cables all reached far enough back.
I still had a problem with getting the clutch cable  to go under the dash pad with out an abrupt bend in it so I had to drill a hole thru the dash pad for the cable to go thru  :'(

A worthy alteration and you've saved a potential clutch cable failure on the road somewhere well south of Snake Navel, Arkansas. You'll hear banjo music...

So who's going to notice this mod other than you? Bet'cha added a neat grommet for a factory look. You know our unspoken forum "rule". No photo? Didn't happen.

Any pictures to share? I might be looking at doing something similar.
Best regards,

Will  here it is you guys wanted to see it.
I really had no choice the cable just bent to much and it would have worn quicker than normal and like Monte said may have failed at the worst time.
Besides the pad has been repaired so it inst in  perfect condition anyway
I am going to the MOA rally in NY and just don't need any surprises
And yes we do go to northern Arkansas at least twice a year!!!! :o
It is not a drastic change but I definitely have a more relaxed posture and I can stand up easier to stretch my legs and air out my but
