Nice one.
With electrical problems you have to have a logical approach and test everything one by one. Intermittent faults are the worst PITA to find.

By chance, was it a light blue wire, and I think it was in it's own single wire connector near the front of the bike ? I had problems of have the electrical system 'cut out' on occasion on me for about a year. Found that wire had come loose on numerous occasions, and I finally soldered the metal parts of the connector together, and covered it with heat shrink tubing, and no problems in the last 10 years.
