Air Injection Delete
« on: March 29, 2015, 04:54:04 PM »
My friend is wanting to delete the air injection on his '83 R65LS. I can't seem to find one supplier that has all the parts on hand to do this. I seem to remember someone was selling the whole shebang as a kit but for the life of me I cant find it. I have all the part numbers right down to sealing washers for the carb vacuum takeoff screw but I don't want to order $2 parts from four different places costing a bunch in shipping. Anybody remember who was selling this little bag of hardware? Thanks in advance!

I think they are just using engine drain plugs for the holes in the heads  and timing hole plugs for the airbox holes
I just used hardware store bolt cut off to about 10mm long to plug the holes in the head

BoxerMetal.com out of Chico, CA used to sell a set that had everything in one package. Just checked and they have a message that they have temporarily shut down their online store to concentrate on building bikes. Might try and email them to see if they are still selling it, just not through an online store.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

If you've got all the part numbers why not just order them from your local dealership?

If not the local dealership, I'd probably go with Max BMW, since they are a dealership and will be able to get you all the parts.  They are great to deal with.  Just ask them to put the whole order in a USPS small flat rate box or priority envelope.  A few bucks shipping and it will be there in a couple days.
