Has anyone put rear sets on their R65?
« on: January 11, 2015, 03:31:34 PM »
Has anyone put rear sets on their R65?  My son and I are working on a '83 R65 and he would like to put rear sets on it.  Anyone found some that will fit?  I do not think I can use the sets from R75/R80/R100's but I do not know.  Looking for some advice and maybe a used set some one is looking to get rid of.

Thanks
Roy

I had a set of Raask rearsets on my 82 R65LS that are R45/65 specific. Mine were sourced a piece at a time from motorcycle swap meets but they are still being produced by Raask in Sweden and are available from Omar's Rearsets here in the US. They are not cheap though. I think a new set is around $350. Even getting mine a few pieces at a time I think I ended up having around $225 invested in them. But if you want boly on convenience they are the way to go.

Mine came off for a sidecar addition.

I used RAASKs on my old café racer.  I originally bought them from motobins.  But I doubt if they stock them now.  There were 'cheap and cheerful' construction, but were made to fit the model, so it was easy.  They could also be easily cleaned up and made more 'trick'.

The only other option is to get something like a tarrozzi one size fits all set and start modifying them.

I have long since sold the rear sets on alas.  And the bike for that matter.

Cheers

I put these on mine last year. They are pretty sturdy and well made.

I got them from here: http://www.flatracer.com/#/flatracer-bmw-r4565-rear-sets/4572098558
