Does anyone have a source (non dealer) for rear brake shoes? I am hoping to find a Canadian supplier or wherever and reasonable. Thank you in advance.

Getting OEM parts from other than a dealer I think will be difficult. You may want to try a search of the web for EBC brake shoes, I've had them on my R65 for about 9 years now no complaints yet. Just by chance that you have an LS version bike, the brake shoes are different than a standard R65 brake shoe.

The codes for the rear shoes on 81-89 boxers according to the motorworks catalogue are

rear shoes EBC 861, or Ferodo FSB701
R65LS EBC862 or Ferodo FSB804
