Rack fit
« on: June 21, 2014, 08:34:07 AM »
Hi
New to R65's. I have been looking for a rack to put some Krausers on the bike and they are a little harder to come across for this bike (SWB) then others of that era (LWB). Out of curiosity I pulled the rack off my fathers '75 R75/6 and it lined up to go right on my R65 just fine, granted it mounts on the side and not on the top of the frame near the foot peg like the R65 rack, but there is a bolt hole on the side.  You also use a a different hole from the one used on the 75/6 for mounting it to the upper shock mount. Is there something I'm missing as to why this won't work?

I know some of the early /5 bikes were a short wheelbase but I don't know if this carried over into the /6 line or not.  I would say that if they bolt up solid and don't get in the way of anything you've answered your own question!  ;)  The bags, as far as I know, are all the same it's just the mounts that differ...
