Rear Subframe From R100
« on: June 15, 2014, 12:53:43 PM »
Hello, this is my first post, just got a R654LS and am in the process of tidying/servicing it so probably many more questions to follow.

Firstly though, is the rear subframe the same across R models? I've seen a tidy R100 subframe which looks the same in pics, but not sure if it's the same size as R65.

Thanks for any help on this.

Welcome John

No it's not common across R models.  Even the 78 - 80 R65 subframe is different from the 81 - 84 model in some minor details.

The way to check things like this is to find the part number and then enter it into an online parts fiche search to find out what other models the part is common to.

You can do that here where it says "Part No application search"

Thanks - a very useful link.
It's not the same - I didn't think it would be that easy.

You might find that they are very similar though.  It might be that the differences are of differences in detail only.  But it might be the difference between fitting your saddle and not....

Having said that the R100 has a longer swing arm than the R65, which means that you might have geometry issues as well.  But the only way to be sure is to compare them side by side and take measurements.......

I have always wondered about putting on an R100 subframe to see iff it would allow a more "common" seat to fit.  But, I've been lazy...
