Disaster  .. what can I do?  Tank Badge
« on: August 24, 2007, 09:14:44 AM »
The BMW tank badge has fallen off the side of my petrol tank... well it came off with very little persuasion, seems like a thin smear of dust and powder was keeping it attached to the tank. The badge on the other side is being held on by the same method!

After I clean it up what adhesive should I use to stick it back on?

Thanks

The new BMW badges have double sided sticky tape on them. Most auto parts have the good tape and there is different thickness's. Find the thin tape. A auto paint supply store will have this also.

I've used a small amount of RTV type sealant /adhesive, hasn't come off in 13 years so far.

If your old ones are old and yellowed this would be a good time to replace them.  If you are determined to "save" them I RTV them, like Bob, and it works great...

If you replace them, buy the ones from the BMW Cruiser. They are much nicer and will last longer......Dew.
