Clutch Cable - Bar End Boot ( part# ? )
« on: August 18, 2007, 02:03:53 PM »
I been looking for the boot for the clutch cable @ the bar end. And not finding it.
Stupid question I know. Just figured someone may know right where to find this #.
Seems every time I tinker with bike I find something not there or ready to disintergrate.
Thanks
Troy

I had problems finding this part number a few years ago, and the best that I can remember, I was told to go to one of the other model bikes for the 1981 model year, and the clutch cable is broken down to that part number. I'm at work now, but when I get home in about 2 hours, I'll check my parts receipts to see if I have one that matches the part number I got from Realoem for an R80. The number that I off RealOEM is : 32731230038. Well after searching my parts receipts, I came up with nothing. Troy, get used to finding things falling apart, that's what 26 year old bikes do best !

I know what you mean about old things falling apart. Been experiencing that personally. Have slowed down considerably from the pace I ran just 10 years ago.
I will not grow old gracefully. I am too immature for that. I firmly beleive any fine thing improves with age. So I look forward to the age at which I reach perfection.
As for the bike parts. I really enjoy the whole experience of owning this wonderful machine. I get giddy ordering parts & then waiting to open the package. I feel like its Easter egg hunts & Xmas with this project. Best part is my toy just gets better the more I play with it.
Thanks for the assist. I viewed the pic for 32731230038 & I do believe thats it.
I'll order one & see. Thanks again for the help.

My R65 was built in 09/80, and I've owned it ince 01/81. The bike did pretty good until I moved to Phoenix in 10/93, and now I can't do anything on the bike without breaking some plastic or rubber part. Desert heat and sun are not kind to non-metallic parts ! I have been fortunate enough to have two co-workers that ride '81 and '82 R100's so I can compare parts from my bike to the larger ones to see if I can use the parts from the larger bikes, when I can't find them for the R65.  But I still love the sound of the engine, sounds like it should be spinning a wooden propellor on a WW1 bi-plane.
