Neat fans

A lot of writings concerning BMW Boxer maintenance advise having fans/blowers set up to keep the engine from overheating.  Barbi found these for me at Wally World the other day and they fit the bill perfectly - plus they also have a couple of outlets built in.  I used a carb sync session as an excuse to test them out.

It was almost 100 degrees, ambient, when I did the sync and when I was finished I could still comfortably place my hand on either valve cover.

I think that at a little over $40/ea these are just the ticket.  Plus, they move quite a bit of air and can be used to speed up carpet drying after a cleaning...

they look the biz.......ive got the origonal handbook and it states .....do not allow the engine to idle for more than 10 minutes presumabley to prevent it overheating.

Cool...I've been using a set of leaf blowers - rather un-wieldy.

What might make it look a bit different, is the Telefix fork brace just under the fork cap .

The brace bridges across between the sliders and the stock dust covers/caps slide down onto the brace...

Did you actually notice any difference with the Telefix brace installed?
Many have said that the R65 has a stronger system and the brace is not required. I have installed one on my R75/6 but not ridden enough yet to see a difference (or I'm not riding hard enough!).
Any thoughts about it's usefulness?

This is the wife's bike so it doesn't get ridden very hard, but you are correct.  A lot of the "experts" claim that the average rider will never be able to tell the difference as they are not able to ride close enough to the edge for thew braces effects to be noticed.  I put this on because I got it for a "song" and it looked cool!  8-)

I have the San Jose fork brace. Pretty much the same as the Telefix. Yes, it definitely stiffened up the forks. You will notice it when throwing the bike into a corner. Quicker response.
