/7 Tank on a 1980 R65
« on: October 16, 2013, 04:54:00 AM »
Apologies if this has been asked before.  I did do a search but it came up blank.

Hopefully a nice simple one that has a nice simple yes / no answer.......

Will the petrol / gas tank from an R60/7 (unsure what year) fit straight on to my 1980 R65, or will mods be required?

I have the chance of one, and quite like the larger tank look.....

Thanks in advance for your help !  :)

It certainly won't fit straight on but I believe it's possible. Issues would be length and hence a gap to the seat and under tank electrics being in the way. R80st tank would fit without mods which is probably academic as there will be very few of those around.

Nothing like your tank swap is completely impossible. You'll just need to plan for some bike down-time while you fettle the changes or get surprised by alterations you may not have expected..

The tank is nice looking.
