Top End Overhaul Manual
« on: June 06, 2013, 10:03:19 AM »
Among the Airhead Beemer Club, the name 'Oak' Okleshen is that of a well-respected Airhead machinist and technical expert. Oak is an ABC Technical Consultant, writes a monthly column in the ABC's AirMail magazine where he answers readers tech questions and has been honored by BMW Mottorad as a "Friend of the Marque".

Although I do not expect any problems among my three Airheads, I recently received Oak's Boxer Top End Overhaul manual and I'm impressed by the depth of detail within the 41-page, spiral bound book. Many nuggets of knowledge regarding Airhead components from the crankcase out, including carburetors, can be mined.

According to the results of a recent R65 forum poll, only about 14 forum members are also ABC members so few may be aware of Oak's guru status within the sport and industry.

No spring chicken, Oak has had some serious health issues within the last year or so but is on the mend. Unsure if he is again offering cylinder head rebuilding services but he might be a good source.

The Top End manual is well worth the twenty-five dollar price.

I have that book.  I, too, recommend it.
